Chemical peels are an effective skin rejuvenation treatment designed to exfoliate and renew the complexion at a deeper level than traditional skincare. Using a carefully selected blend of active ingredients, the peel works to dissolve dead skin cells, clear congestion, and stimulate fresh cell turnover, revealing smoother, brighter, and more even-toned skin.
Treatment typically takes 30 minutes, making it an ideal option for those seeking powerful results with minimal downtime. Depending on the strength of the peel, you may experience a gentle glow or light shedding over the following days as fresh, radiant skin emerges.
Whether you're targeting dullness, fine lines, acne, or pigmentation, chemical peels can be tailored to your skin's needs, offering visible improvements in clarity, texture, and overall luminosity.
Following your bio peel, the skin will be undergoing an active renewal process. Good aftercare protects your results and keeps your skin comfortable during this period:
Immediately after treatment: your skin may feel warm, tight, or appear flushed. This is completely normal and will settle within a few hours.
For the first 48 hours: avoid extreme heat, including saunas, steam rooms, hot showers, and sunbeds. Avoid strenuous exercise. Use only a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser and a light moisturiser.
For the first 7 days: do not use exfoliating products (physical or chemical) and avoid retinoids, vitamin C, and other active ingredients. If any light shedding or peeling occurs, resist the urge to pick or peel and allow the skin to shed naturally.
Apply SPF 30 or higher every morning during the week following your treatment. Fresh, newly revealed skin is particularly sensitive to UV damage, so daily sun protection is essential.
This depends on the formulation used and your individual skin. Some clients experience a gentle glow with no visible peeling, while others notice light shedding over 3 to 5 days as old skin cells are shed and fresh skin emerges. Either response is normal and reflects the peel doing its job.
Bio peels can be adapted to suit a wide range of skin types and concerns, from dry and dull skin to oily, acne-prone, or pigmented complexions. A brief consultation ensures the right formulation is selected for your skin. Those with very sensitive skin or active skin conditions should let Jovanne know in advance.
Most clients experience a mild tingling or warming sensation when the peel is applied, which usually fades within a few minutes. The treatment is generally very well tolerated. If any discomfort is felt, please let your practitioner know immediately.
For general maintenance and glow, a bio peel every 4 to 6 weeks is ideal. For more targeted concerns such as pigmentation or acne, a course of 4 to 6 treatments spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart is often recommended. Jovanne can advise the right approach for your skin goals.
Works well after dermaplaning to enhance penetration. You can also combine it with microneedling for great results; alternate each session for best effect. Jovanne can help you build a treatment plan that works for your skin.
